Located just 129km from the town of Seville, Malaga is the base from which to explore Spain's famous Costa del Sol. This beautiful town is also where Pablo Picasso was born, and you'll find a number of art galleries celebrating his masterpieces, including the 16th Century Museum of Fine Arts, located right next door to Malaga's Cathedral. You can also visit Picasso's birthplace in Plaza Merced, and see some of the master's great art treasures.
But there's much more to explore in Malaga, capital of the Costa del Sol, including the fortress of La Alcazaba, which was built in 1065 and is now home to a fascinating archaeological museum. Nearby you'll find a charming old Moorish castle, which is now used as a state hotel. Explore the lush botanical gardens on Calle Alameda, and then head for the city's exquisite sand beaches, which have made the city a popular seaside resort for centuries.
Malaga is also famous for its numerous golf courses - there are 39 in all - as well as it's year-round glorious weather. Other fun activities include watching bullfights at the Plaza de la Malagueta, or enjoying various watersports for which the resort is renowned, from scuba diving and windsurfing to sailing and kite surfing. After dark, there is a lot to enjoy, from nightclubs and tapas bars to traditional flamenco performances.
