This popular city, the third largest in Australia, boasts year-round sunny weather and a rich cultural scene. It's also home to numerous street cafes, a beautiful riverside park and a lively nightlife.
Home to over two million people, Brisbane is also the second fastest growing city next to Perth, and its relaxed ambience has earned it the title of the 20th most liveable city in the world. The city centre stretches along the Brisbane River Valley, and is home to some historic buildings including the Town Hall, which is in complete contrast to modern monuments like the Gallery of Modern Art, which is located on the river's edge.
You'll find lots of art and culture in South Bank, which is also home to the Queensland Museum, famous for its interactive displays. Also here is the Queensland Art Gallery that boasts a fine collection of art treasures, and the famous Performing Arts Centre. Shopping is also a pleasure in Brisbane, especially in Paddington and Rosalie, around La Trobe Terrace, and there are lots of department stores and chic designer stores in Queens Street Mall. Fashion fundi's head for Fortitude Valley, which is also famous for its excellent nightclubs, and there are some excellent factory outlets in Stones Corner.
Sports facilities abound, too - cricket tests are held at Gabba Sports Ground and rugby fans head for Suncorp Stadium.
