Located to the west of Central London, London Heathrow Airport is the city's largest airport, and also one of the busiest airports in the world. It's linked to the city via extensive road and railway links. The airport is immense: there are currently four working airport terminals.
It's easy to get between terminals - Terminals One and Three are within walking distance of each other, while transfers between these terminals and Terminal Four (8-minute trip) and Terminal Five (12-minute journey) are available free on either the Heathrow Express train or a shuttle bus.
To get to and from the airport, you can take a taxi, the Heathrow Express non-stop train service, or the London Underground. There are also coaches from the airport to over 500 UK destinations.
Ninety different airlines use London Heathrow, including British Airways, who use the airport as their base. The airport currently offers flights to and from 180 destinations around the world. It's also the main base for flights into London.
London Heathrow offers extensive facilities, including a variety of restaurants, bars and cafes, fast food outlets, coffee shops, pubs and sandwich bars. Terminal Five even boasts a restaurant run by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. Each terminal offers an excellent selection of shops, including duty-free shops, newsagents, souvenir stores plus boutiques offering British and international fashion.
London Heathrow also offers a wide selection of Business and First Class lounges, currency exchange facilities, ATMs and public telephones. Visitors can enjoy paid-for wireless internet access, plus facilities for business and conferences and left luggage.
